Laurie Israel — Justice of the Peace

Laurie Israel is a Justice of the Peace in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and is authorized to perform marriages. Appointed in 2005 by Governor Romney, Laurie is one of 18 Justices serving in the City of Quincy.

As a Justice of the Peace Laurie Israel can perform marriages anywhere in Massachusetts. Her charge is the statutory fee of $75 for a wedding in Quincy, and $125 for a wedding elsewhere in the Commonwealth. (Additional charges may apply for more extensive planning.)

Laurie prepares the marriage ceremony for each wedding according to the couples wishes and desires. The first step is an interview with the engaged couple over the telephone, to find out about their relationship, their families, and their personalities.

Her ceremonies can include whatever spiritual or secular elements as the couple wishes. Laurie often weaves poetry, song lyrics, and Bible/Torah passages that hold significance into her ceremonies.
